Tattoo sells out in record time
The Edinburgh Military Tattoo
More than 1,000 performers are expected at this summer's event
The Edinburgh Military tattoo has sold out in record time - more than seven months before it opens.

The last of the 208,848 tickets for the three-week run were bought on Friday. This is the ninth year the Tattoo has completely sold out.

All the tickets for the performances in August were snapped up four weeks earlier than last year.

Major General Euan Loudon, becomes tattoo producer in March, taking over from Brigadier Mel Jameson.

Brigadier Jameson, the tattoo's outgoing chief executive and producer, praised the hard work of those involved for making the event a success.

He said: "We are thrilled with the early demand and the increasing popularity of the event."
