Spillage costs to be driven down
Lothian bus
The company said the system offers added security and safety
Thousands of pounds are expected to be saved by Lothian Buses after it fitted a new fuelling system which prevents diesel spillage.

It is also hoped it will reduce the threat to other road users that can result from spillage on the road.

The Optimum FS non-spill fuel system has been fitted onto 46 Lothian Buses. It will be rolled out across the fleet.

Bill Devlin, Lothian Buses engineering director, said: "We are extremely encouraged by this advancement."

He added: "Lothian Buses will benefit from added security and safety whilst fuel filling as well as reducing the amount of spillage and eliminating the chances of foreign matter getting into the fuel tanks."

The system will be showcased at Euro Expo 2006 in Birmingham next month.

The security comes from a special nozzle that is locked onto the coupling on the fuel receiver unit.
