Hogmanay party-goers are to receive texts from the police |
Revellers at Edinburgh's Hogmanay party can receive free text messages giving them safety updates - as well as a warning not to drink too much. Lothian and Borders Police said it will be able to send messages to thousands of people at the Princes Street party.
The messages will also include advice on what to wear and how to avoid losing friends in the crowd.
People who would like messages have been asked to text POLICE EH2 2EL to 88588.
The force said it will send messages to people who provide their mobile numbers when applying for tickets.
