Emergency services were put on stand-by when an unexpected squall hit 28 racing boats in the Firth of Forth. The vessels, which were carrying a total of 33 people, were involved in two yacht club races taking place in Largo Bay, off Fife.
The club's own rescue craft was on hand, while three lifeboats and an RAF helicopter were made available as a precaution.
A coastguard spokesman praised the club's safety arrangements.
One of the participants said the boats made it back to the beach under their own power.
"It was a hell of a sail," he said.
