The Bling event aims to promote fun without drink or drugs
Police in Fife are organising a huge party in a bid to convince youngster in the area that they do not need to drink alcohol during a night out.

The "Bluelight disco" event, which is the first of its kind in Fife, will be held on Friday at Letham Glen in Leven.

Called Bling - standing for Bluelight in the Glen - the outdoor fun day is aimed at 12 to 17-year-olds and encourages them to reject alcohol.

Tickets cost 2 and are on sale at Levenmouth Police Station.

The young people will be breathalysed on entry and we'll have police officers on duty to ensure everyone behaves

Pc Kerry Anderson of Levenmouth Police, who is helping organise the day, said Bling would prove that young people could have a good time without resorting to alcohol, drugs or petty crime.

Pc Anderson said "Letham Glen has an undeserved bad name for under-age drinking, vandalism and youth disorder.

"With Bling we're out to prove you can drop the drink and still have a great time.

"The young people will be breathalysed on entry and we'll have police officers on duty to ensure everyone behaves."

Bungee run

Starting at 1500 BST and running until 2300 BST, local bands will kick off the event. They include Toed Up, Sergeant, Goodnight Story and Aces High.

The dance tent starts at 1900 BST and features DJ VT Dodger and MC Jock.

Free water and tropical fruit will be handed out, plus there will be a barbeque with free burgers.

Other attractions include street dancers and a bungee run.

During Bling, there will be a marquee with experts on hand with advice on drugs awareness, careers, sexual health and other teenage issues.
