A 22-year-old woman has been barred from her council home in Fife after the police secured an anti-social behaviour order. It follows allegations the woman and her partner used illegal drugs at their Leven home.
Fife Constabulary said the situation had become so severe neighbours were too afraid and intimidated to let their children out to play.
It is the third closure order in the area by Fife Constabulary.
A closure order for the Leven case was secured in Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court last week.
Supt Alan McIlravie of Fife Constabulary said the orders were a last resort, but an important weapon in the war against anti-social behaviour.
He said: "The detrimental effect this kind of behaviour has on a whole community simply cannot be underestimated.
"One person simply cannot be allowed to ruin everyone else's life in this way.
"This underlines our commitment with our partners to tackle this kind of behaviour head-on and bring peace and security to our communities."
Remove offenders
Closure orders were introduced as part of the Anti Social Behaviour Act last year.
They are used in cases of extreme anti-social behaviour to remove offenders from their homes for an initial period of three months.
If the behaviour is likely to continue, the police can apply to the court for another three month extension.
The orders apply to any dwelling, including private homes. Fife police secured two closures last year - one against a council home in Leven and another against a private house in Dunfermline.
