Dunfermline
Dunfermline town centre is to receive a 850,000 facelift
Dunfermline town centre is to be transformed with a 850,000 facelift.

The funding from Historic Scotland will see businesses and buildings revamped in the first part of a massive overhaul of the heart of the town.

It is hoped in the future the dilapidated town centre will be turned into a retail hotspot for shoppers.

New shop fronts, windows and doors as well as improvements to Bridge Street and pedestrian areas will all be included in the project.

Ultimately, the projects will make the town centre much more attractive with real social and economic benefits
Councillor Anne McGovern
Fife Council leader

Leader of Fife Council Anne McGovern said: "This is a significant step forward in our plans to revamp the town centre.

"Dunfermline is of great historic importance but we also have aspirations to make it a retail centre of choice.

"The funding will allow us to retain that historic character and link it seamlessly to the High Street and surrounding areas.

"By improving the buildings and the surrounding environment and by continuing to improve retail opportunities, we can create a great experience for visitors, not just from other parts of Fife, but further afield.

"Ultimately, the projects will make the town centre much more attractive with real social and economic benefits."
