 Delays caused by First ScotRail have dropped by 50% |
First ScotRail has been named train operator of the year following a 20% increase in passenger numbers and customer satisfaction since 2004. The company picked up the prize at the National Rail Awards, described within the industry as the "Railway Oscars." The award recognised a 50% drop in delays caused by the company and a punctuality record of 93.8%. Managing director Mary Grant said the prize recognised the achievements of the First ScotRail team. She said: "I am delighted with the result. It is testament to our hard work and commitment to deliver the best rail service we possibly can for Scotland. "Our investment in staff, stations and trains will continue to achieve further improvements." Channel tunnel operator Eurostar, came runner-up in the category.
