Dundee University is among those which will benefit |
Universities and colleges across Scotland are to benefit from an extra 100m funding package. Education Secretary Fiona Hyslop announced the scheme at the SNP's annual conference.
The package will offer support to Anniesland, Langside and Motherwell colleges, all of which are in the advanced stages of building projects.
It will also benefit projects in the pipeline in Dundee, Forth Valley, Inverness and Kilmarnock.
Paisley University's Ayr campus and Glasgow School of Art will also be supported.
Ms Hyslop said the scheme showed the Scottish Government was "serious about supporting colleges and universities".
"We are determined that Scottish money, held on account at Westminster, should be used to meet Scottish priorities," she said.
'Smarter Scotland'
The investment, which is in addition to the forthcoming spending review, will support plans to create a "smarter Scotland".
David Caldwell, chief executive of umbrella group Universities Scotland, welcome the move.
He said: "Scotland's future economic strength depends on the high quality graduates and leading edge research which universities provide, and our students and researchers need state-of-the-art accommodation and equipment to maximise the return."
Howard McKenzie, acting chief executive of the Association of Scotland's Colleges, said: "Ultimately, the real winners from today's announcement will be Scotland's students who will see a direct benefit in terms of the facilities and equipment available to them."
