TA soldiers receive Iraq honours
Prince Charles
Prince Charles presented the soldiers with medals
About 40 Territorial Army soldiers have been awarded Iraq service medals by Prince Charles in the grounds of his private home in Aberdeenshire.

The soldiers - all members of the 51st Highland, 7th Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland - include crofters, gamekeepers and offshore workers.

They returned to Scotland in May after their six-month tour of duty in Iraq.

The prince, the battalion's Royal Colonel, specially invited the soldiers at Birkhall, near Ballater.

He is said to have wanted to thank them personally for their efforts during their recent tour of duty in Iraq.

The 51st Highland has its headquarters in Perth but its personnel are drawn from units stretching from central Scotland to Stornoway

Their work in Iraq included guarding Basra air base and protecting convoys.
