Scheme to boost broadband users
A new scheme that aims to boost broadband internet access has been launched by the Scottish Government.

Ministers have urged those who want to benefit from a high-speed internet connection but who can not currently receive it to come forward.

A bidding process, worth up to 3.5m, has now begun to find providers to deliver the service.

Broadband availability in Scotland is more than 99% but some people in remote areas have difficulty receiving it.

Announcing the scheme, Enterprise Minister Jim Mather said: "As many individuals and businesses in Scotland as possible should have broadband access."

Those with access problems are urged to contact the government by the end of this year, to enable work to begin next year.
