Deadline looms for postal votes

About one in 10 voters are expected to vote by post
The deadline is approaching for people who want to vote by post in the Scottish Parliament election.

About one in 10 people are expected to vote by post rather than go to the polling stations in person.

Those who want to cast their ballot by post must return their application forms to their local registration officer by 1700 BST on Wednesday.

Ballot papers will be posted out in the next few days and have to be returned by election day, 3 May.

New measures have been introduced this year to prevent fraud.

Those who forget to return their ballot papers by post can hand them in at polling stations on election day.

Labour and the Liberal Democrats will be focussing on children as the political parties continue their campaigning on Wednesday.

The SNP will unveil its pensioners' charter and the Conservatives will be campaigning against road tolls.
