Scots jobs market 'still growing'
Construction workers
Construction workers were among the most sought after employees
The labour market in Scotland has continued to grow at a stronger rate than the UK average, economists at the Bank of Scotland have said.

The bank's labour market report for October found that demand for temporary and permanent staff continued to rise.

However last month's growth rates fell to their lowest level for nine months.

The bank said this had been influenced by the fact that employers were finding it more difficult to attract the right candidates.

The number of people placed in permanent jobs grew for the 17th month in a row, but the rate of growth was below average.

Permanent staff shortages were highest in Edinburgh, while Aberdeen had the most temporary staff shortages.

Permanent staff salaries grew, and pay rates for both temporary and contract workers have also risen, partly because of an increase in the national minimum wage.

Demand rose for all categories of staff monitored by the survey, with engineering and construction workers the most sought after for both permanent and temporary roles.
