A Sherlock Holmes short story, hand written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, is to be handed over to the National Library of Scotland. The Adventure of the Illustrious Client was published in 1927, in the last volume of Sherlock Holmes stories.
It is unusual in that there is no real mystery to solve, just a client Holmes has to help see sense.
But as one of the last of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's 56 Sherlock Holmes stories, it is a real collector's item.
After the author's death, the work belonged to his daughter Dame Jean Conan Doyle.
She died in 1997 and left the manuscript to the National Library of Scotland, in Edinburgh.
On Friday it will be officially handed over to the library, which already owns a number of original manuscripts including unpublished Holmes stories in the archive of Blackwood's Magazine.
