 Tartan week culminates in a parade through New York on Sunday |
The Tartan Week celebrations have got under way in the United States. Billionaire property tycoon Donald Trump launched the event, which centres on a replica Scottish village inside New York's Grand Central Terminal.
About 5,000 people will take part in a 10km Scottish Run on Sunday, and a host of celebrities will attend the Dressed to Kilt fashion show on Monday.
The climax comes next Sunday when thousands of pipers and drummers make their way down New York's 6th Avenue.
Tartan Day was first formalised by the US Senate in 1998 to mark the Declaration of Arbroath on 6 April 1320, when a group of Scottish nobles swore independence from England.
It has since been extended to cover a whole week of events celebrating Scots history and culture.
