Plans for a learning unit at Dumfries High School were rejected |
Plans to build a unit for children with learning difficulties at Dumfries High School have been rejected. Councillors on the Nithsdale area committee turned down the application on the grounds it was unsuitable for the type of learning centre required.
The move was welcomed by some parents who are against plans to replace Langlands school with the unit.
The council said it would come back with revised proposals for the two classroom centre.
Planning officers had recommended that councillors back the scheme and then seek approval from the Scottish Executive.
However, concerns had been raised by some parents about access issues and the reduced outside space.
