Four Citizens' Advice Bureaux in the Borders are to close and four others are to have their opening hours cut. It has been confirmed that centres in Jedburgh, Innerleithen, Coldstream and Chirnside will shut.
Hours will be reduced at the Galashiels, Hawick, Peebles and Berwickshire centres.
A spokeswoman for the bureau network said increased grants were not enough to keep the centres open at a time of ever-growing demand for their services.
