A report into the wooden beam which fell out of its mounting on the roof of the Scottish Parliament has been met with "huge" disappointment by MSPs. Structural engineers Arup were called in after the 12ft-long beam came loose in the debating chamber last Thursday.
Their five-paragraph report confirmed that a connecting bolt had sheared allowing the oak beam to swing down.
It said investigations were ongoing and all the other roofing bolts would have to be checked.
MSPs were forced to conduct debates in the Hub on the Royal Mile on Wednesday.
There are now plans to retain the temporary accommodation for next week at least.
In a statement, the Scottish Parliament's Corporate Body, the MSPs which manage Holyrood, said: "Six days after the strut came loose in the chamber, it is hugely disappointing to have such a brief report.
"As the presiding officer said in the chamber this afternoon, the onus is on Arup to tell us what went wrong and how to fix it."
