Patients at Yorkhill Hospital could be consulted |
Children could be given a role in deciding the design of a new sick kids' hospital for Scotland. Plans to involve patients and communities in the layout of the 100m facility were discussed at a meeting of NHS Greater Glasgow.
Chairman Sir John Arbuthnott said: "We are setting out to build an outstanding children's hospital, you don't do that without consulting children."
Children could have their say on layout, facilities and colour schemes.
Consultation would most probably take place during workshops and youth focus groups.
A spokeswoman for NHS Greater Glasgow said: "We do, wherever possible, engage with young people in creating new services.

"At Yorkhill staff ran workshops with children to ask them which services and facilities the hospital should provide.
"We got the usual responses - Play Stations and DVDs - but also some unexpected ones: a quiet room for reading and beds for parents to stay over at night."
At Tuesday's board meeting members discussed a proposal consultation process.
A report stated: "It is important to emphasise that we see this consultation as the beginning of an extensive process to involve patients, parents and voluntary organisations in the design and development of the new facility."
A decision from Health Minister Andy Kerr on the hospital's location is expected shortly.
