Glasgow's tall ship, the Glenlee, will be part of the festival |
Organisers hope thousands of people will take the chance and go messing about on - and off - the water at the Glasgow River Festival. The event, which is now in its second year, takes places on the Clyde on Saturday and Sunday.
A range of free events are planned in and around the SECC, Glasgow Science Centre and the Glenlee tall ship.
There will also be the first visit to the city by the yacht representing Scotland in a round-the-world race.
The Clipper 05-06 contest features 10 identical 68ft yachts, each sponsored by an international city and crewed by amateur yachtsmen and women.

The vessel Glasgow: Scotland with Style is skippered by Graeme Johnson, who was born in the city.
Lord Provost Liz Cameron was meeting him and the rest of the crew when the yacht berthed at the Moat House Hotel pontoon.
The festival will also see visits from HMRT Golden Cross, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and SS Shieldhall.
Visitors will be able to board both boats and talk to their crews.
Mini regatta
Two rounds of the National Zapcat Championship will take place in Glasgow during the festival. The lightweight craft race for three hours each day.
The Scottish Amateur Rowing Association is running a mini regatta, and there are also opportunities to try dinghy sailing and power boating.
Tom Allison, chief executive of event supporter Clydeport, said the river was a vital part of the city.
"The festival is a celebration of the Clyde and all it means to Glasgow, and we are glad to be part of that," he said.
