Changes at Borders General Hospital are part of the plans
A string of meetings has been arranged to discuss proposals for a revamp of health care provision in the Borders.

Plans to close two cottage hospitals have already sparked anger, with hundreds turning out to protest in Jedburgh at the weekend.

Changes have also been proposed to accident and emergency services at Borders General Hospital and mental health services across the region.

Meetings take place at Coldstream, Jedburgh and Peebles this week.

Protesters turned out in large numbers at Jedburgh on Saturday to voice their anger at the plans. That followed a similar protest in Coldstream a couple of weeks ago.

Berwick Borough Council has also been seeking a meeting with the local health board to discuss the plans for Coldstream.

NHS Borders has described the changes as essential but has urged the public to attend its consultation meetings.
