More than 1,000 people have marched through the centre of Edinburgh protesting against domestic violence. They were calling for a review of local authority cuts in funding for Women's Aid.
They also want more money to be invested in refuges for battered women.
Fiona Hyslop, the Scottish National Party's social justice spokeswoman, said domestic violence was a "hidden menace which destroys the lives of thousands of Scots women and their families every year".
She added: "By this public show of support for the invaluable work of Women's Aid, we are standing up against domestic violence and standing alongside those women whose lives are blighted by it."
