NHS Grampian runs hospitals such as Aberdeen Royal Infirmary |
Front line patient care will not be affected by efforts to make 20m of savings at NHS Grampian, senior officials have promised. The board's budget review group held a meeting on Friday.
Interim chief executive Alex Smith said it was determined to balance the books by the end of the financial year, despite the size of the overspend.
Budget managers promised to "work together" to avoid breaking the board's annual 750m allocation.
BBC Scotland revealed earlier this week that the board had been told to cut 20m from its projected spending figure of 770m.
Savings measures now being considered by managers include the possible sale of excess land and buildings and the potential delay of planned projects.
Speaking after Friday's meeting, which was held in private, Mr Smith said the board would launch its financial plans next week.
"At today's meeting clear and consistent commitment was given by budget holders to work together to achieve financial balance this year, as we did in the last financial year," he said.
"Reassurance was provided that the efficiency savings programme is on track and the initiatives that budget holders are discussing will not impact directly on front line patient care."
