McAlpine was suing over alleged tendering breaches |
A legal dispute over the building of the Scottish Parliament has been settled out of court. Sir Robert McAlpine Construction Management sued the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body (SPCB) over alleged tendering breaches.
The agreement to settle the case was secured after face-to-face discussions at Holyrood before Christmas.
Neither side admitted liability and no payment was made. McAlpine had been seeking 4.31m in damages.
Both the parliament and McAlpine will meet their own costs from the 12-month case, which will leave the SPCB with a bill of 150,000.
The discussions took place between the parliament's presiding officer, George Reid, and McAlpine director David Boyle.
Mr Reid said: "Achieving a settlement of this case was clearly in the public interest given the potential costs.
"I am therefore delighted that we have been able to reach this agreement with McAlpine.
"I now look forward to both parties being able to concentrate fully on their core business once again - McAlpine on serving its customers through its construction business and the parliament on serving the interests of the Scottish people."
