Bank notes award-winning building
The Clydesdale Bank Exchange features on a special edition note

A rare special edition bank note has been produced to recognise Scotland's Commercial Development of the Year.

The Clydesdale Bank has issued a special edition 20 note to celebrate the award given to its new Glasgow city centre office building.

The eight-storey Clydesdale Bank Exchange, built by CALA Properties, is situated at the junction of Waterloo and Wellington Street.

It is the new home of the bank's financial solutions centre.

It won the commercial Development of the Year accolade in the Scottish Property Awards recently.

'Symbol of commitment'

Alasdair MacConnell, managing director of CALA Properties, said he was "flattered that the building has been noted, quite literally, by Clydesdale Bank".

He added: "Crisp new notes have become a collector's item for staff and have already been taken out of circulation as keepsakes."

David Thorburn, chief operating officer of the Clydesdale Bank, said: "Our flagship customer-focused centre at Clydesdale Bank Exchange is symbolic of our drive to create a revitalised business in the UK.

"I believe the new 20 bank note commemorates an important symbol of our commitment to building our business in Scotland."
