Soldiers fail random drug tests
Ministry of Defence
The Ministry of Defence said the soldiers faced being discharged
Three soldiers from a Scottish regiment have tested positive for drugs at an Army base in Cyprus.

The Ministry of Defence said the trio, from the Royal Highland Fusiliers, were detected during random tests.

The rank of the soldiers and the drugs involved have not been disclosed. The regiment recently returned from a tour of duty in Iraq.

An MoD spokesman said: "Drug use is unacceptable and offenders will usually be discharged."

More than 500 soldiers from the regiment are currently stationed on Cyprus.

The Royal Highland Fusiliers spent three months in southern Iraq last year, and about 400 troops returned for a month in January to help police the elections in Basra.
