Victims 'lose thousands' in scam
Grampian Police headquarters
People in the Grampian Police area have been targeted
Grampian Police have issued a warning over a lottery scam which has seen one north east pensioner conned out of several hundred thousand pounds.

The force has expressed concern because so many people in the area have become victims.

People have been phoned, told they have won a substantial sum on the Canadian lottery and asked to part with "administrative fees".

Police said the 'lottery' operation is non-existent.

Elderly people in the area have been targeted and in one case a north east pensioner parted with several hundred thousand pounds.

People have been urged to ignore the approaches and, above all, to refrain from parting with any cash.
