The Taser was used for the second time in less than a week |
Police used a Taser stun gun during a firearms incident in Glasgow city centre - the second time such a weapon has been fired in less than a week. Firearms officers were called out at 2210 GMT on Tuesday after receiving a number of reports that a man had been seen with a gun in Argyle Street.
The 42-year-old man was arrested after being taken to hospital for a check-up.
Police used the gun for the first time in Scotland last Wednesday when they were called to a robbery near Wishaw.
Investigation launched
In that incident, the Taser was discharged during the robbery attempt at a petrol station in Newmains, North Lanarkshire.
The suspect was overpowered by the weapon, which sends a 50,000 volt charge through its target.
Strathclyde Police said a senior investigating officer had been appointed to look closely at the circumstances surrounding Tuesday night's incident.
