School closures as snow continues
Digger
Most roads remained open despite more snow falls
Thousands of children had another day off school after more heavy snow falls in parts of Scotland.

Almost 80 schools were closed or partially closed in the north east, although most roads remained open.

At least three people were injured in a series of road accidents, with one driver having to be freed after becoming trapped in his car near Udny.

A snowplough had to be dug out of a ditch near Ballater and a lorry jack-knifed at Glens of Foudland.

But police said nobody had been seriously injured.

A spokesman warned, however: "Drivers should take their time and keep their speed down.

"They should plan ahead for their journey as long as the adverse weather conditions continue and check the media or internet for weather conditions."

The chaos came the day after 30 vehicles were involved in an accident on the M8 motorway near Livingston, where the road was badly affected by snow and ice.
