Dundee jobs go as firm slims down
A leading engineering company is to shed 90 jobs in Dundee because of increasing worldwide competition.

The Wood Group currently employs 225 workers on two sites on the Baldovie Industrial Estate.

The firm is transferring some work from Scotland to its operations in Thailand. Manual, clerical, technical and managerial positions will be affected. The cuts are also the result of a reduction in work from a contract with the RAF.

The Wood Group plans to remain in Dundee, concentrating on new product development instead of servicing and repairing turbines and aero engines.
