 East Renfrewshire pupils had the greatest exam success |
Pupils in Glasgow account for the lowest exam pass rate in Scotland this year, according to Scottish Executive statistics. In East Renfrewshire 42% of pupils in fifth year passed three Highers, more than three times the number in Glasgow, which had the weakest results.
East Dunbartonshire and Stirling, Aberdeenshire and Orkney were also in the top five for Higher results.
The pass rate could rise when the results of appeals are known.
East Renfrewshire also had the highest proportion of pupils passing five Standard Grade passes at general level or above, at 90%.

Glasgow again posted the lowest pass rate with 63% of pupils passing five exams at Standard Grade.
Moray saw the biggest variation in Standard Grade results since last year with a fall of five percentage points in the proportion of pupils passing five exams at general level or above, from 84% to 79%.
Overall, 22% of Scottish pupils passed three Highers and 76% passed five Standard Grades - in line with last year's results.
