Club gives red card to hooligans
The thugs were arrested before the cup final at Hampden
A gang of football hooligans who rioted on the day of last season's Scottish Cup Final have been banned from Dundee United's ground.

Police arrested the five men before the game between the club and Celtic at the Hampden Stadium in May.

They were found guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court of throwing bricks and bottles and fighting in the street.

Dundee United said the men were not welcome at Tannadice and would be removed if they were seen at matches.

Dundee trio John Hepburn, 40, and Stewart and Steven MacKie, both 24, as well as Ian Carson, 40, from Airdrie and James Gallagher, 34, of Barlinnie Prison are due to be sentenced next month.

They were also convicted of blocking Bedford Street near the Carling Academy venue before the game, which Celtic won one nil.

These men are not welcome inside Tannadice under any circumstances
Dundee United spokesman

A Dundee United spokesman said: "As far as we are concerned these individuals are not Dundee United supporters, although they may claim to be.

"True Dundee United supporters on that day would already have been inside Hampden.

"We have checked to see if they are affiliated to any supporters' club or are season ticket holders and they are neither of these.

"If they were, their tickets would have been taken away from them."

He added: "These men are not welcome inside Tannadice under any circumstances and if our attention is drawn to the fact they are there, they will be asked to leave."
