Retail sales in Scotland have slowed |
Consumers in Scotland are tightening their purse strings, according to the latest retail figures. In August, retail sales grew by 3.6%, less than half the growth rate the previous month.
August sales figures compared with 8% in July. The Scottish Retail Consortium said sales of clothing and footwear were slowing down.
Rises in mortgage payments, council tax and petrol are said to be catching up with Scottish consumers.
