More than a quarter of Aberdeen's post offices face closure |
Public opposition has prevented the closure of three out of 14 threatened post offices in Aberdeen. Post Office Limited said it agreed that shutting the offices would have a detrimental effect on local communities.
An angry local reaction followed the announcement that more than a quarter of outlets in Aberdeen were to shut as part of an urban reinvention programme.
A final decision over the remaining 11 offices will be made later in July.
Industry watchdog Postwatch described the proposals as "deeply flawed" and lobbied hard for the Post Office to alter its plans.
Campaigners also raised a petition contesting claims that the post offices were rarely used.
Post Office Limited has now decided that Mannofield, Sclattie Park and Mount Street are to remain open.
