RAF Kinloss rescue team turns 60
Mountain rescue
Mountain rescue teams have been around for 60 years
Scotland's oldest mountain rescue team has notched up 60 years of service.

RAF Kinloss Mountain Rescue Team was formed in July 1944 to conduct search and rescue missions for World War II servicemen from downed aircraft.

Since the early 1950s its missions have been recorded and the team has rescued nearly 1,000 people in more than 800 call outs.

It covers an area extending northwards from Aberdeen across to Oban and is staffed by volunteers.

It is run by seven full-time mountain rescue members alongside another 33 part-timers and takes three years to become a full member.

A reunion dinner for past and present members is being held later in the year.
