An offshore union leader is calling for the Scottish Executive to bring in its own corporate killing law. Jake Molloy of the OILC says he is tired of waiting for the UK Government to fulfil Labour's 1997 manifesto pledge to introduce legislation.
A corporate killing law would mean that companies found responsible for the deaths of workers on their premises would be punished.
The issue is being discussed at a conference in Glasgow on Thursday.
The major event, organised by the Centre for Corporate Accountability, will debate the issues around criminal legislation.

Aberdeen Central Labour MP Frank Doran says the Westminster government will be publishing details of a corporate killing bill in the next few weeks. But Mr Malloy, who is attending the conference, believes it is time Scotland went ahead with criminal legislation regardless of the situation at UK level.
In a statement, the Scottish Executive said it would monitor the progress of Home Office proposals on corporate manslaughter.
"If it is decided that legislation is required, then we will not hesitate to bring forward proposals for legislation," said a spokesperson.
