The new Scottish TV headquarters will be built beside the Clyde |
Scottish TV has been given the go-ahead to build its new headquarters on the south bank of the River Clyde. Glasgow City Council granted planning permission for the new building at the Pacific Quay development.
The proposals for the commercial television channel to build a purpose-built studio at the site were approved by councillors on Tuesday.
BBC Scotland is also moving to Pacific Quay. Work on the corporation's new Scottish HQ there is under way.
Scottish TV and 400 staff hope to be in their new home by 2006 after leaving their current city centre HQ in Renfield Street behind.
SMG Television chief executive Donald Emslie said: "This is great news and it means we can get on with building one of the most modern television studios in Europe.
"We're very much looking forward to moving to Pacific Quay in 2006 and to working in a modern building specifically designed for our purposes. "
