A 15-year-old boy will appear in court on Thursday charged with the murder of Jodi Jones. Detectives have also charged the boy's 45-year-old mother with attempting to pervert the course of justice.
The pair, neither of whom have been identified, were arrested on Wednesday morning. The boy will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday.
Jodi, 14, was found dead on the outskirts of Dalkeith in Midlothian on 30 June last year.
Police forensic teams examined at a house in Dalkeith on Wednesday, where a uniformed officer stood at the entrance to the property.
Major operation
Jodi's body was found near a woodland path at the back of the Newbattle Community High School after she went missing from her home in Easthouses.
Following the discovery of Jodi's body, a major police operation was launched with 40 officers dedicated to working on the case from an incident room set up at Dalkeith police station.

Dozens of extra officers were also drafted in from across the force and senior officers even flew to the US to meet members of the FBI to help with the investigation. Forensic teams spent days at the scene where her body was found. A team also searched drains in the area and a local sewage plant.
Detectives spoke to more than 3,000 people during the first month of their inquiry.
Jodi's funeral was held at Gorebridge Parish Church in September last year.
Hundreds of people turned out to pay their last respects to the teenager who was described as "sunshine to a lot of people".
