The company has secured two new deals |
Dairy firm Robert Wiseman has secured a second major contract with a supermarket chain in two days. The East Kilbride-based company has won a contract to supply additional milk to Tesco, a day after clinching a long-term deal with Sainsbury's.
The deals follow a low point for the firm, which lost a lucrative contract with Asda in May.
Managing director Robert Wiseman said the new deal was "another major boost" for the company.
While Wiseman and Arla Foods won new long-term contracts with Tesco, Dairy Crest lost out.
 | We look forward to the continuing development of this long-term supply partnership with Tesco in the period ahead |
Earlier this year, Wiseman and Dairy Crest both lost work with Asda when it made Arla Foods its sole supplier. Managing director Robert Wiseman described the Tesco contract as a further welcome development.
He said: "We look forward to the continuing development of this long-term supply partnership with Tesco in the period ahead."
Wiseman said it would see its share of the supermarket group's fresh milk supply rising from 40% to about 60%, providing Tesco with 160m litres of milk per year at a value of 85m.
Wiseman recently announced its intention to open a new site in the south east of England as part of expansion plans.
