A Nigerian man who was moved from Dungavel to a prison has sparked new controversy about the abuse of human rights at the immigration centre. The lawyer representing John Oguchuckwu said that as a suicide risk, he should not have been sent to Greenock Prison.
At the end of July, a Vietnamese man committed suicide at Dungavel.
Lawyer Jelina Rahman said Mr Oguchuckwu suffered because the Dungavel authorities feared another suicide would harm the centre's reputation.

A few days after the suicide of the Vietnamese man, Mr Oguchuckwu became agitated and anxious. Ms Rahman said her client has a history of self harm. He has now been in Greenock Prison for three weeks.
Sources in the Scottish Prison Service say a detainee can only be admitted to prison if there is violent behaviour or a security risk.
BBC Scotland has seen an official letter from the SPS which seems to suggest the transfer was carried out because Mr Oguchuckwu was a suicide risk.
The letter stated: "He was transferred from Dungavel because there were concerns with regard to deliberate self-harm."
Scottish National Party MSP Linda Fabiani said she was "horrified" that Mr Oguchuckwu was "thrown into jail".
She told BBC Scotland: "I would hope there is an inquiry into what I see is a clear abuse of human rights. "And I really think that Jack McConnell as first minister now has to bite the bullet and say 'enough is enough, we're not having this any more'."
Campaigners who believe Dungavel is guilty of systematic human rights abuse say this incident is yet another log on the fire of controversy about the centre.
Robin Qureshi, of Positive Action in Housing, said: "Asylum seekers are being put into a system inside Dungavel where they walk in mentally fit, mentally healthy and they are left to languish for months and even up to two years in some cases.
"The centre creates a situation where they become suicidal and despairing and the suicide management technique of Dungavel is to turn around when someone complains of being suicidal and throw them into prison.
"So what kind of technique is that? That's the situation that they have created."
