The rare whisky was distilled at Dalmore |
A Highland collector has paid 5,000 for a rare bottle of 50-year-old Dalmore whisky. It was the only bottle made available for sale to the public at the Easter Ross distillery.
The site is known to be home to the world's most expensive malt.
It is a relative bargain as a rare bottle of 62-year-old Dalmore fetched the highest price ever for a bottle of single malt whisky when it sold at auction for just under 26,000 in 2003.
On 1 May, 1926, master distillers at Dalmore decreed that a minute quantity of previous malt whisky was to be racked into three casks and stored for half a century.
At a special ceremony on 17 February, 1978, the matured whisky was decanted into 60 bottles - only eight of which remain.
