Anne and Ashley Martin were laid to rest at a service in Glenrothes

Anne Martin, 39, her eight-year-old daughter Ashley and five-year-old Ross Sneddon died after being hit by a car as they walked home nine days ago.

About 300 people paid their respects to the Martins in the town's St Ninian's Parish Church on Monday.

A day later, more than 500 mourners turned up for the funeral of Ross Sneddon in a service at Kirkcaldy Crematorium.

Tragic loss

The trio were killed on the morning of 15 February in Minto Crescent, the street where both families lived in the Macedonia area of Glenrothes.

Ross's mother Michelle Sneddon and her two-year-old daughter were also involved and were taken to hospital in Dunfermline suffering minor injuries.

The two services were both emotionally charged occasions with many mourners listening to the funeral services from outside their respective venues due to the sheer weight of numbers present.

Floral tributes were in abundance at both services and many more have since been laid been laid at the crash site.

Distraught members of both families broke down in tears at the services, which were led by the Reverend Dr Linda Dunbar.

Man charged

Last week, 23-year-old Dean Paul Martin - no relation to the victims - appeared in Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court in connection with the trio's deaths.
