Manufacturing firms are showing the first signs of recovery, according to a report from the industry group Scottish Engineering. The past three months have seen a turnaround in sectors like electronics, but Scottish Engineering warns that it is still very early days.
Orders and production levels are finally rising, which suggests that manufacturers are turning their backs on recession.

And more companies overall are hiring, rather than firing staff.
