The family of a woman who died earlier this month from deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is seeking the introduction of national guidelines for treating patients with the condition. Carolanne Douglas, from west Edinburgh, was taken ill after a four hour flight home from a family holiday in Turkey.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Douglas family said they were satisfied, as well as they can be, that proper procedures were followed.
But they questioned whether the procedures are adequate.
Mr Douglas, 43, was taken to St John's Hospital in Livingston with cramp in her leg after the flight on 1 August.
But her husband Paul, 47, said she was sent home with a handful of paracetamol. A week later she collapsed and died.
A post mortem examination revealed that a blood clot in her leg had moved to her lungs.
The couple flew to Turkey with their three daughters, Sarah, 19, Norma, 16, and Carra, 12, in July for a two-week holiday.
