Air passenger numbers soar
Edinburgh Airport
Edinburgh Airport recorded an all-time high
Scotland's largest airports have recorded their busiest month, operators have revealed.

Figures from airport operator BAA show that - in spite of wildcat action by some British Airways ground staff - the UK's seven main airports recorded their second-busiest month in July.

At Glasgow and Edinburgh, the all-time record was broken, with Edinburgh again showing the faster growth of just over 5% compared with 3.6% in the west.

The figures also show general growth from the low-cost airlines, although long-haul routes operated by more traditional operators are beginning to see a modest improvement.

BAA said the record levels would have been even higher had it not been for the recent British Airways dispute.
