The Dalai Lama will attend a "major peace event"

He will travel north after spending a day in London on 27 May and will spend four days on a programme of Buddhist teachings in Glasgow.

He will then spend two days on public and private engagements in Edinburgh and Dunfermline, during what will be his third visit to Scotland.

Organisers said that during the east coast leg of his visit, Edinburgh would hold "a major peace event" which would include a public talk by the Dalai Lama at the Usher Hall.

Parliament visit

Events have also been arranged in Dunfermline, where the man regarded as one of the major spiritual leaders of modern times will meet children and teachers at an event in the town's Pittencrieff Park.

During his visit to Edinburgh, he will also lead the Scottish Parliament's Time for Reflection slot at the start of the week's parliamentary business.

Presiding Officer George Reid said: "We look forward to His Holiness leading the Scottish Parliament in Time for Reflection when he visits Scotland next year.

"As a world renowned religious leader, the Dalai Lama shall also be invited to share his thoughts with MSPs."
