BAE jobs under threat
Nimrod maritime patrol plane
The Nimrod contract has been under review
There are fears for 150 aerospace jobs at the BAE Systems factory at Prestwick.

The company is planning to move work on the Nimrod air defence system to England.

The reorganisation follows cost overruns and problems on the Ministry of Defence (MoD) contract.

A company spokesman said it was too soon to say whether those currently working on the Nimrod project will be transferred elsewhere within the business or lose their jobs.

The firm has been in talks with the MoD over changes to contracts to build the Nimrod surveillance planes and the Astute Class submarines, in the hope of limiting any potential losses.

Concern had also been raised after BAE Systems announced it was looking to sell its aircraft parts business.
