Nudists explore beach plan
nudist bather generic
Naturists want an official nudist beach
Naturists are calling for a stretch of coastline in the north-east of Scotland to be officially designated a nudist beach.

An Aberdeen naturist has called on the British Naturism organisation to approach the city council with the request.

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, thinks there should be an official beach in or around the city where people could bathe without having to cover their modesty.

The council said it would consider any application for a nudist beach provided it met with legal requirements.

Very brave

There has been a naturist club in Aberdeen for almost 40 years.

Enthusiasts are thought to use unofficial beaches such as Balmedie and Black Dog.

However, on a wet and windy day in March they were not in evidence.

Aberdeen locals say the nudists would be very brave

Some people in Aberdeen expressed surprise at the thought of bearing all on a North Sea beach.

One woman said "I think they will be very brave to have a nudist beach in Aberdeen, because even in the summer it is cold.

Another local said: "You cannot hang out on these beaches, it is too cold."

A third person thought the nudist idea would be "great".
