Hundreds gathered at Glasgow airport to catch a glimpse of some of Real Madrid's world famous players. The Spanish side was supposed to enter the airport and face waiting fans in the arrivals area but plans were changed at the last minute amid security concerns. Police and airport officials said they had not expected so many fans to turn up and had been forced to alter the team's arrival plans. Real Madrid face Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday at Hampden Park in Glasgow for the coveted title.
Some fans said they had waited for up to 10 hours at the airport to see their heroes. But supporters did get to see former Real legend Alfredo de Stefano - one of the stars of the famous 1960 European Cup final team which played Eintracht Frankfurt at Hampden. Speaking at the airport, Real president Florentino Perez said: "I am very happy to be here." The team's stars, including some of the world's most expensive players, were whisked straight to their luxury hotel in Langbank. It has been estimated that hosting the event will deliver a �20m financial boost for Glasgow, with motor company Ford alone spending an estimated �1m on advertising in the area.
