 | | Monday, 13 May, 2002, 09:51 GMT 10:51 UK Distillery to increase production  Production of Glenmorangie will be stepped up A whisky company has announced plans for a �500,000 investment in a Highlands distillery which will increase production by a third. The extension to the Glenmorangie Distillery in Tain will eventually allow the firm to produce an extra 1 million litres each year. Glenmorangie says the expansion is required due to an increasing demand from across the world. Head of distilleries and maturation, Dr Bill Lumsden, said: "This is another very positive step forward for the distillery after the recent investment in the visitor centre facilities.
"We are constantly striving to build upon our success and grow our market share. "This investment will allow us to meet future demand within a growing worldwide market." The distillery will be extended to accommodate new fermentation vessels. Production levels will, over a period of time, increase from three to four million litres per year. Work, which is due to be completed in September, is already under way at the site.
